Prasar Bharati: DD chief gets extra charge of Prasar Bharati | India News

NEW DELHI: The government on Thursday gave additional charge as Prasar Bharati chief executive to Mayank Kumar Agrawalcurrently serving as director general, news, at the Doordarshan.
The 1989-batch Indian Information Service officer will hold interim charge as Prasar Bharati CEO till further orders or until the government makes a regular appointment to the post. Officials said Agarwal’s appointment was done with the sanction of Union information and broadcasting minister Anurag Thakur,
Agarwal’s appointment comes on the heels of Shashi Shekhar Vempati demitting office as Prasar Bharati CEO after completing his five-year tenure on Wednesday. As per the Prasar Bharati Act, a three-member search committee comprising the Vice President of India, chairman of Press Council of Indiaand the I&B secretary will identify the executive member of the Prasar Bharati board.
The government has not filled up the vacancy for the Prasar Bharati chairman since its last incumbent, Surya Prakashstepped down.
